Rüfüs du Sol Bring Aussie Indie Dance Fusion

Rüfüs du Sol saw their album Atlas shoot to the top of the charts last year in Australia from where they hail (known there simply as Rüfüs), and in the US in August. Riding on the success of Atlas, Rüfüs are making their second 2014 POPSCENE stop on their tour at Mezzanine on October 24th to give San Francisco a taste of their indie dance fusion. They played to a sold out crowd at the Rickshaw stop in March.

Musically landing somewhere between the deep beats and vocals of Disclosure and the feel-good vibes of Goldroom or Poolside, Rüfüs has carved a niche of their own. The three-piece band bring more upbeat-pop elements to their music than fellow Aussie’s Flume and Chet Faker, but their live act is what truly sets them apart. Their lineup of drums, synths, guitar, and vocals breathes life into their shows, which mixes the sounds of future-garage, Balearic house, and nu disco at times. It’s best experienced on the stage, and this is their last stop on their North American Tour with Australian friends Hermitude and San Franciscan local DJ Aaron Axelsen, so don’t miss out!

“For a couple of years, the RUFÜS DU SOL… have been frequently taking over the interwebs with a series of tantalizing originals and club-ready remixes, in addition to a seriously fun live show. Their sound is a refreshing blend of vocally driven indie pop that’s effortlessly interlaced with punchy dance-focused beats from an array of instruments, all providing a very complete product that plain and simple—is hard not to like.”
