Get ready to break out your berets, because this week at MEZZANINE there will be a French Pop Invasion!
First up in our French takeover is the enchanting electo-pop duo, Lilly Wood & The Prick, consisting of vocalist Nili Hadida and guitarist Benjamin Cotto. The pair originally met at a café in Paris and instantaneously realized their mutual creative connection.
The name Busy P could not be any more appropriate for French powerhouse Pedro Winter. It would be unfair to label him as just a DJ, producer or entrepreneur, because this guy has really done it all. At the ripe age of 39, Winter has not only managed perhaps the most successful French Electronic group ever (yes, I am referring to Daft Punk,) but has also founded Ed Banger Records, a label that represents essentially every influential French artist in the game right now, such as Justice and Breakbot. Astounding? Yes.
February, a month typically associated with frigid temperatures and hot Valentine’s Day dates, is much sweeter than a box of chocolates for San Francisco residents. If there is a box, Alvin Risk is definitely not in it. The DJ/producer/singer is constantly showing off his musical imagination and innovation on his varied projects. Much of Risk’s productions tend to stem from dubstep and drum & bass origins, with EP’s like JunkFood providing straight up face-melting drops. But he can’t be confined.
